Daryll and Ramona are siblings growing up in the shadow of the atomic-age American midwest. While a happier life beckons to Ramona away from their repressive father, Daryll struggles to cope when his only friend, a cow named Dandelion, is sold to the local slaughterhouse. When Daryll resolves to rescue Dandelion, he finds her once-gentle nature to have been brutally altered, and must find a way to either protect her, or protect everyone else from her.
