Carl Johan De Geer (b. 1938) is a Swedish multidisciplinary artist working in photography, printmaking, film, painting, textile, and illustration. He was one of the major figures of the 1960s Stockholm countercultural art scene that marked a time of societal shifts in an otherwise conservative Sweden. As a masterful Leica M4 snapshot giant à la Van Der Elsken or Daido Moriyama, De Geer has the sacred ability to capture the monotone grit of everyday life and demand its reflection. He gives us a glimpse of a Sweden inhabited by people who are the other, whose life experience is impregnated with otherness, providing a visual cue into an unseen world.

De Geer is an 80 page overview of Carl Johan De Geer's black and white photography. It was printed in celebration of the Boo-Hooray exhibit the Printed Matter Los Angeles Art Book Fair at MOCA, curated by Johan Kugelberg and Ed Templeton.
